Description
Eastside Cottage is a late 17th or early 18th century cottage located in Clatford Bottom, FYFIELD. The construction combines sarsen stone and brick, with a thatched roof. It is a single-story building with an attic, originally featuring two bays and a lobby-entry plan. A 20th-century gabled and weatherboarded porch has been added to the front, alongside 20th-century timber windows. However, two original 18th-century iron casements with original glass remain on the first floor. The left bay of the front facade was rebuilt in brick during the early to mid-19th century. The roof is hipped. Inside, the central fireplaces have been blocked, but a large oven with a plastered flue remains. The first-floor partitions are of wattle and daub, and the floorboards are laid diagonally.
