Description
Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century and was later modified in the late 18th to early 19th century. Originally built with a timber frame, it was refaced in brick and raised from a single storey with an attic to two storeys during the late 18th to early 19th century. The building features a thatched roof and consists of three bays, with a lean-to extension on the left that was built at the same time as the remodelling, and a later extension on the right. Inside, there is a through hall in the right bay behind a large chalkstone stack located in the central bay. The farmhouse has a six-panelled door and timber casement windows, along with two 17th-century windows—one featuring ovolo mouldings and the other being leaded glass, both reused in the extensions. The interior includes bar stops in the central bay and chamfer stops on the cross beam in the left parlour bay. Early fireplaces are concealed by an early 19th-century fireplace, and the roof was remodelled in the early 19th century, consisting of six bays of 17th-century style.
