Description
The building is a post office, dwelling, and shop located in Wilcot Oare, dating from the late medieval period and the mid-18th century. Originally timber framed, it has been refaced in brick and features a thatched roof. The structure is two storeys high and has a lobby entry plan with four bays; the left bay is a single storey with an attic and has been altered. The right three bays were refaced in the 18th century with red and vitrified blue brick arranged in vertical bands. There is a door in the first of these three bays, along with a shop window and three-light casement windows that have segmental brick arches. The two upper floor windows are blank. The building has a central stack and an additional stack added to the right gable, which is rendered to conceal a full cruck. Inside, various timbers can be seen in the shop. The building also features a Sun Insurance mark numbered 386497.
