Description

Black's Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that features a timber frame with colourwashed brick noggings and a thatched roof. The building has one storey and an attic, consisting of two bays with a central half bay for the stack. There is a lean-to at the north end, and the thatch sweeps down over the lean-to to the right bay at the rear. The gable end has a 20th-century door with a thatched canopy above it, and there is a glazed rear door opposite the stack. The framing consists of three panels high with corner braces. To the right bay, there is a small canted oriel window with a board hood. Other windows were replaced during a major renovation in 1985. The cottage has a central brick stack and the thatch is half-hipped at both ends.
