Description
One Yew is a pair of cottages that have been converted into a single house, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The building features a combination of malmstone and timber framing, which has been refaced in brick, and is topped with a thatched roof. Originally constructed as a single storey, it was raised to two storeys in the late 18th to early 19th century. The facade consists of four and a half bays, with the left end being a half bay in stone. The main facade has three bays, built of brick on stone footings, and includes a central door that is set within a 20th-century porch, replacing two earlier blocked doors. The windows are also from the 20th century, and there are three flush dormers, with the eaves line raised. To the right, there is a one-storey bay featuring 18th-century brickwork and a malmstone return that incorporates the roof truss. The roof has a stack on the left gable and another stack at the junction with the left extension, which is half hipped.
