Description
Longcroft is a villa that was built around the 1850s and has since been subdivided. The building is plastered with a slate roof and features stacks with rendered shafts and sunk panels. The main block is double-depth, with the entrance located on the west side, and there are service and stable blocks to the north and west.
The villa stands two storeys high and has deep eaves supported by brackets, along with an eaves band, sill band, and a moulded string. The quoins are rusticated and stuccoed. The front of the building is asymmetrical with two windows. It has a central projecting porch supported by distyle Doric columns in antis, topped with a deep entablature that includes a cornice and blocking course. To the right of the porch, there is a four-panel projecting lateral stack. The windows are fitted with moulded architraves and are glazed with 12-pane sashes. The ground-floor window on the left features a floating cornice on consoles.
According to previous descriptions, the garden elevation on the south side includes two canted bay windows and a pedimented window on the ground floor. The service wing retains small-pane sashes. The interior has not been inspected but may contain interesting features.
