Description
Woodend is a villa dating from the 1840s, located on Lincombe Drive, Torquay. It was formerly known as Lisworney, as indicated on Ordnance Survey maps. The villa has plastered walls and a slate roof, with stacks featuring rendered shafts and dentil cornices. The building follows a deep rectangular plan, comprising a main block with an entrance facing west and a service block set back to the north. The main block has a two-window facade, while the service block is lower and set back to the left. The main block features a pedimented gable on the left, with a dentil cornice below the eaves and a wreath in the pediment. A projecting porch has a cornice and parapet, housing a square-headed doorway with a 20th-century door and overlight. A shallow projecting stack is located to the right. The ground floor has a six-over-nine-pane sash window to the left, and the first floor has a twelve-pane sash window. A later window has been inserted to the right. The service block also has a pedimented gable and sash windows. The garden front, noted in 1975, originally featured two-storey canted bay windows. The interior has not been inspected, but may contain noteworthy original features.
