Description
The balustrade to the garden of Crossways on Wellswood Avenue is part of the boundary for Wellswood Park, constructed in 1853 and designed by the Harvey brothers. It is made of conglomerate set on a snecked local grey limestone plinth, although one section has been replaced with concrete. The low limestone plinth features a moulded coping that supports a balustrade adorned with interlaced circles and faceted blocks at the junctions. Above this is a coped moulded handrail. The piers of the balustrade include a round-headed sunk panel and moulded oversailing caps with rounded tops. This structure has group value with the properties at Nos 1-15 Wellswood Park Road.
