Description

Beaumont is a detached villa dating from the 1870s, situated on Lincombe Hill Road, Torquay. The house is built in an Italianate style. It has a double-depth main block facing south, with a service block set at a right angle to the east under a mansard roof.

The main block is asymmetrical, with a three-bay (two-window) front and a three-bay service wing to the right. Deep eaves are present, along with an eaves band and a platband. The windows in the main block have plain, projecting architraves, featuring four-pane sashes with horizontal glazing bars. Service block windows are twelve-pane sashes. The centre bay of the main block projects forwards and is gabled. A projecting central porch is characterised by channelled rustication, an entablature with a projecting cornice and blocking course. The round-headed doorway has a hollow-chamfered surround, a massive keyblock and a four-panel door with a plain fanlight. A round-headed window with a keyblock sits above the door on the first floor. A blind bay to the left features a shallow projecting stack that passes through the eaves. The left return has pilasters and two-storey canted bays on either side.

The interior of the property has not been inspected, but may contain features of architectural interest.
