Description
The churchyard wall surrounding the Church of St John the Baptist is a structure that dates from the 19th century, with some parts possibly being medieval. It is built from local red breccia rubble and varies in height, being taller on the east side. The south side features toothed capping and includes coped gabled piers at the southern gateway to the churchyard. Along Church Path on the south side, the wall is likely from the 19th century and is lower, topped with grey limestone coping. The wall increases in height as it reaches Palace Place, where it stands opposite the wall of the medieval Bishop's Palace, and it continues along Church Street.
