Description
The gun battery, now serving as a patio, was built between 1779 and 1780 or between 1794 and 1795. It features a semi-circular platform located on a cliff-top with views of the sea. The platform includes three wedge-shaped gun platforms made of granite slabs, which face north, east, and west. Surrounding the platform is a stone rubble retaining wall, which is topped by a low red brick wall built in the late 20th century. This battery was previously known as the Castle Hill Battery and likely ceased operation after 1832. It is associated with a late 20th-century bungalow called 'Round Top,' which is not included in this listing.
