Description
The lime kiln, built in 1809, was constructed to provide lime for a military hospital. It is made of roughly coursed and squared Devonian limestone rubble and is located in a quarry above the Berry Head Hotel to the southeast. The kiln features a wedge-shaped opening with a rounded arch made of voussoirs. Inside, the structure has a semicircular shape with a corbelled roof. There is a small rectangular aperture in the rear wall at ground level and a large round hole on top, which is accessible from a higher quarry.
