Description
This coach house, located 4.6 meters north-west of Aylmer in Higher Brixham, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a concrete tiled roof, along with a slated lean-to addition. The building has a simple rectangular shape with a wide doorway facing the main house. To the right, there is a lean-to room with a separate entrance.
The coach house is designed in the Gothic Picturesque style and is a single storey. The front features a wide doorway with a flat arch made of rough voussoirs, and it has 20th-century replica half-glazed double doors. There are pilaster strips at either end, topped with pedestals, and a crenellated gable. Above the doorway, there is a round opening with a brick surround. The rear gable mirrors the front design but includes a blind point-arched window. The lean-to has a plank door at the front, while the rear has 2-light wood casement windows with L-hinges. Inside, the coach house has a cobbled floor and a late 20th-century roof structure.
