Description

This is a pair of houses located on Higher Street in Lower Brixham. They were built in the early to mid-19th century. The houses have rendered (plastered) walls and slate roofs, with rendered end stacks. Each house has a double-depth plan, featuring one room at the front. The houses are two storeys high with an attic, and have a two-window front. The front doors are 20th century replacements, complete with overlights (small windows above the doors). Number 12 has 2/2-pane sash windows (meaning two panes of glass in each sash), with horizontal glazing bars. Number 14 has 1/1-pane sash windows. Mid-20th century dormers (roof extensions) have been added to the attic space. The interior has not been inspected. The houses are included on the list for their group value, meaning they contribute to the character of the surrounding area.
