Description
The Manor House is a public house located in Lower Brixham, dating from the early to mid 19th century, and it may be a remodelling of an earlier structure. The building features solid rendered walls and a slated roof, with a large rendered chimney positioned behind the ridge on the left side. It stands two storeys high with a garret and has two widely spaced windows. The doorway is off-centre to the left and consists of double doors, each with three flush panels. At either end of the building are canted bay windows, likely from the early 20th century, which include leaded glazing and transom lights. In the centre of the upper storeys, there is a large blank rectangular panel framed with a moulded border, flanked by windows with two-paned sashes. The building has a deep flat eaves-cornice and features two dormer windows with slightly curved tops and slate-hung sides, which contain two-light wood casements. The low storey heights and off-centre doorway suggest that this building may have originated as a 17th century or earlier house.
