Description
Lechlade Halfpenny Bridge, built probably between 1792 and 1794, features a fine segmental arch made of ashlar stone. It has heavy flanking side piers that include small overflow arches and blind oculi. On the south side, there is a dry arch for the towpath, which includes an old stile. Each face of both parapets has a panel in the center that displays the county boundary line. On the Lechlade side, there is an early 19th-century square hill house with a hipped slate roof and one window. The causeways on either side are short, particularly on the Inglesham side. The builders are likely to have been the local firm of Ralph & Crowdy.
