ST 77 NE TORMARTON C.P. WEST LITTLETON ROAD, West Littleton (east side) 6/296 Barn attached to north of Littleton 17.9.52 House (formerly listed as barn and G.V. cowsheds at Home Farmhouse)

Barn. Late C17/early C18, with C19 and later alterations. Limestone rubble, stone dressings, stone tiled roof with raised coped verges and kneelers, some double Roman tiles and slates. West elevation (to road) has high cart entry with pitched roof, ventilation slits to right and left, blocked loading door to left under eaves; straight joint with quoins to lower addition to left, 2-light casement with flat mullions under eaves and blocked door to left. Left return of barn has owl hole in gable end. Lower addition has hipped slate roof and single storey lean-to with stone tiled roof at left return; rear of addition has high doors to eaves height, external stair to loading door and stable door. Rear of main barn has high gabled cart entry, lean-to addition to each side, with double Roman tiled roof to left and slates to right; high double doors have timber lintel and small loading door above, ventilation slits and loading door to right. Interior: 10-bay roof, mostly C19 replacement beams, principal rafters, tie-beam, collar, 2 rows of purlins and plated yokes, some tie-beams have struts.
