Description
Step House is a house dated 1733, as indicated on the hopper head. It features a rough cast exterior, a double roman tile roof, and freestone dressings. The building has two storeys and five windows, all of which have been restored with 18-pane sash windows set under stepped voussoirs. The central door consists of six panels, with the top two being glazed, and is topped with an elegant stone shell hood supported by moulded brackets. The plain parapet has a slight cornice that returns at each end. Inside, there is an open well staircase with turned spindles and a ramped handrail that ascends through both storeys.
