Description

The Harwood Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, 10 metres south of the porch of the Church of St. Peter in Frampton Cotterell. It dates from the mid-18th century and is made of freestone. The tomb features a moulded slab supported by scrolled corner balusters that frame end panels adorned with foliate decoration. The north side has two plain panels, while the south side displays raised and fielded narrow panels that flank a cartouche with text. The monument commemorates John, son of Alan Harwood, who died in 1768, with the earliest legible date being 1748.
