Description

Beaufort House is a house situated on the High Street in Marshfield. It likely dates from the late 16th century, although it was substantially refaced around 1910. The construction is of coursed rubble, with a slate roof featuring coped raised verges. The house is two storeys high and includes cellars. It has three bays, with marginal glazed bar sash windows and a bay window on the right. A central panelled door is set within a plain stone surround and topped with an overlight. Inside, a ground floor room to the west (right) contains a large stop-chamfered beam on a jowl post, and the roof is a four-bay collar beam truss structure with curved wind braces on the south side.
