Description

Easton Cottage and Shetland House are a pair of cottages, originally two separate dwellings, situated on the north side of High Street in Marshfield. The core of the building dates to the early 17th century, though it was substantially refaced in the mid-18th century. The exterior is constructed of ashlar, and the roof is covered with double Roman tiles. The cottages are two storeys high, with cellars and a modern attic space containing a dormer window. A moulded eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. The left side features a single window and door to each cottage, with quoins marking the corners and a continuous string course above the ground floor. Windows on the left side of No. 34 are 2-light casements with moulded mullions and surrounds. No. 36 has a bow window with multi-paned sash windows. The upper floor of No. 34 also has 3-light casement windows with moulded mullions and surrounds, all topped with a cornice. A six-panel door is set beneath a segmental hood on No. 34's facade, while No. 36 has a plank door. A gabled wing extends from the rear.
