Description
This barn, attached to the rear of Plum Tree Cottage and Barn Cottage, dates from the 17th century, although it likely has earlier origins. It has undergone alterations and additions in the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure is built of limestone rubble and features a stone-tiled roof, with some areas covered in pantiles and double Roman tiles.
On the north elevation, there is a high gabled cart entry, with a small gable to the right that includes a loading door and a stable door, all featuring timber lintels. To the left, there is an attached block with a hipped pantiled roof that contains two loading doors under dives, a stable door, and a cart entry to the right, along with a small three-pane light on the right return.
The south elevation mirrors the cart entry but lacks a gable, and it has a four-pane light to the right. There is also a single-storey lean-to addition to the right with a double Roman tiled roof and two 20th-century doors. Inside, six bays of the main roof are visible, constructed in the 19th century with tie-beam and king-post trusses and two rows of purlins. The two bays of the gabled cart entry feature collar ties, principal rafters, and one row of purlins.
