ST 7282 SE SODBURY BROAD STREET 5/36 (south side)

17.9.52 No 84 GV II*

Late C16/early C17. Rubble, double Roman tile roof. Two storeys with gabled attic. Two windows to first floor; 3-light casements with lead cames, ovolo moulded surround and mullions, dripmoulds with returned stops. Second floor window (in attic gable), two 2-light casements, plain glazed, with blocked oval window in rectangular panel over each.

Ground floor has bay with modern window and low door under slated pitched roof.

Interior: extended collar beam trusses with windbracing. Crudely chamfered beams.

Nos 84 and 86 are good examples of the gabled houses of Chipping Sodbury.
