Description

Nash House is a detached house dating from the early 17th century, with later alterations and additions. It features colourwashed render, dressed stone copings, oak mullions, and a pantile roof. The building is two stories high with a three-window entrance front that has a slightly recessed central section. This central bay now encloses a former entrance court between the two projecting wings. The ground floor windows have five lights, while the upper floor windows have four lights, except for the central window, which has three lights. All windows have hoodmoulds and 20th-century aluminium casements. The central section includes a reset doorcase with a moulded architrave and a studded plank door, topped by a 20th-century pedimented hood. On either side of the doorway are single light windows that are deeply set within the wall face, featuring moulded surrounds and small leaded panes under segmental heads. To the right, there is a two-story lower addition with a reset 17th-century architrave and a fine late 18th-century door with ogee-headed battens on planks. The roof is double span with a lower roadside section and end-rendered stacks. Inside, there are several ogee moulded and chamfered beams with stops, as well as door architraves with ovolo mouldings and scroll stops.
