Description

Langford Place is a detached house, originally dating to the 18th century, and later altered and extended in the 19th century, with 20th-century restoration work. The exterior is rendered, with dressed stone detailing around the windows, and has slate roofs. The south front has three windows arranged over two storeys. All windows are 16-pane sashes; those on the ground floor have ornately carved brackets and flat cornices. A central 20th-century glazed door replaces the original. A two-storey canted bay window is set into the east return front. A rear wing has similar window detailing, including the bracketed window cornices. A left-hand addition features a doorway with Doric pilasters and a round-headed arch. The building has a deeply projecting eaves cornice and ridge brick stacks. Inside, a fine staircase from around 1830 rises steeply, featuring cast iron balusters and a mahogany handrail. The house is now divided into three separate ownerships.
