Description
Two semi-detached cottages date to the 18th century and were restored in 1916. They are colourwashed render with stone copings and a thatched roof. The cottages are two storeys high, with two windows to each in a single block set at right angles to the road. The windows are 2- and 3-light wooden casements with small panes of glass, and those on the upper floor project as dormers into the thatch eaves. A tiled lean-to hood on brackets shelters the studded plank and batten door at No. 1, which is on the roadside end wall. A similar door is on the main facade of No. 2, above which is a restoration tablet bearing the initials of H. Martin Gibbs of Barrow Court and the date. Two rendered ridge stacks are present, with a peacock decoration incorporated into the thatch between them. The cottages are a significant visual feature of the street.
