Description
The Vicarage is a vicarage dated 1679 and rebuilt in 1832, as noted on a tablet. It features a squared and coursed rubble plinth, colourwashed render with dressed stone openings, copings, double Roman tile roofs, and ashlar stacks. The building has a symmetrical 17th-century block with a porch extension to the north front and a further extension to the south front, both from 1832. The main block is two storeys high with an attic, presenting three-window fronts on the east and west sides. The windows are wide openings from 1832, equipped with hoodmoulds and tripartite small pane casements. The central doorway on the west front has a chamfered architrave and hoodmould, featuring a four-panel door with two rectangular fanlights. Above the door is a commemorative tablet that reads: 'The Gift of Mrs. Mary Tooker/Widdow to my Grandson William/Gore Esqr. to be imployed for/the use of A Protestand Minister/for ever that shall Supply the/cure at Barrow : 1679/Rebuilt A.D. 1832 by A Legacy From/EDWARD GORE Esq. of Barrow Court'. There is a cartouche between the attic gables above the tablet, and the building has a double span roof with rendered stacks at the side gable ends.
