Description

Grange Farmhouse is an early 17th-century farmhouse, with alterations from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is colourwashed and has a roof of double Roman tiles. The south front has two storeys and attics, and is five bays wide. The left-hand section has 3- and 4-light 19th-century casement windows with small leaded panes, while the right-hand section has 12-pane sash windows. All windows, except the sashes, have hoodmoulds and chamfered wooden lintels; the sashes are in flush frames. There are three hipped dormers with 3-light casements. The farmhouse has two gabled porches with moulded Tudor-arched doorways and studded plank and batten doors. Three rendered ridge stacks are present. On the east return front is a 3-light mullion window with an ovolo-moulded frame from the 17th century. The interior includes a Tudor-arched fireplace in the ground-floor room on the right-hand side, and an early 17th-century staircase with turned balusters.
