Description

This is a former school and master’s house, dating from the late 19th century and now used as a meeting room. It is constructed of snecked rubble with a triple Roman tile roof and brick stacks. The building has a picturesque, irregular design, including a fully glazed central hall with three triangular dormer windows providing light. It features two gables facing the road; one is half-hipped with a pitched bay, and the other has a nine-light cross window. The roofs are very steeply pitched, with a crested ridge. A prominent, ornate stack with three diagonally corbelled shafts is a particular feature. The building is a well-preserved and detailed example of a civic building.
