Description
Gout House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of roughcast rubble and features a pantile roof with raised verges. Originally, it had an L-plan layout with a cross passage. The building has two storeys and four windows, all of which are 16-light glazing bar sashes. A central door is located beneath a large gabled porch with a cambered head, similar to the ground floor windows. To the right (east) is a semi-attached, two-storey gabled rear extension that has small casement windows. Inside, the cross passage remains intact; the left (west) room, now subdivided, includes a blackened inglenook, a winder stair, and a framed ceiling with ovolo and ogee moulded beams. The right room features a chamfered door surround leading to the dairy wing, which has been altered in the 19th century.
