Description

Pier House is a house dating back to the 17th century, remodelled in the early 19th century. It’s constructed of randomly coursed granite rubble with a gabled slate roof and granite end stacks. Originally built as a two-room house with a central entrance, it is two storeys high with attics, and features a symmetrical facade of three windows. The ground floor has a granite lintel above a 20th-century plank door, and late 19th-century sash windows with two panes to each sash. Inside, there are 19th-century joists and an open fireplace with a granite lintel. An earlier 17th-century house stood on the site, originally consisting of one storey with an attic, the steeply-pitched gable of which is still visible on the gable-end wall.
