Description
The barn at Trenoweth Farm is a mid-19th century structure built from coursed granite rubble, featuring dressed quoins and lintels, and topped with a gabled scantle slate roof. It has a rectangular plan and stands two storeys high, with a first-floor threshing area and ground-floor space for housing stock. The south elevation includes three first-floor windows and a door, with granite steps leading to a ground-floor door; there is also a mid-20th century lean-to concrete block extension on the left. Inside, the barn has a collar truss roof with wreck wood used for the ceiling joists. This barn is notably large for the Scilly Isles and resembles the two-storey 'chall barns' found in Cornwall from the same period. It is depicted on the 1880 Ordnance Survey map and is included for its group value with Trenoweth Farmhouse and Cottage.
