Description
The cresset, or firebasket, from St. Agnes Lighthouse is located in Tresco Abbey Gardens. It dates from the 19th century and is made of cast iron. The design features two circular tapering reversed halves, with the upper part forming a basket that has bars on the sides and an opening for the removal of ashes in the solid lower part. This cresset is likely the only surviving lighthouse grate in the British Isles.
