Description
This is a mid-nineteenth century gas lamp located at the south west corner of the churchyard of St Mary's Church in Brandesburton. It is made of cast iron and features a moulded octagonal base that is topped with a beaded section, leading to a 'barley sugar' twist shaft. The lamp is finished with a moulded crown and a square lantern that has an ogee roof and ventilator lucarnes. Originally situated about 10 meters to the south west, it has since been converted to electricity. This gas lamp is noted for being unusual and well preserved.
