Description
No 18 on Cheap Street is a building dating from 1625, located on the southwest side. It is a three-storey structure with two window bays and an ashlar front. The building features a moulded stone eaves cornice and rectangular window openings that have keystones set within segmental recesses, which also include chamfered edges and volutes in the upper corners. The windows are sash style. There is a stringcourse below the first floor. The shop front and house entrance have contemporary ashlar casing, with capitals to the pilasters that display an anthemion motif and inward turning volutes. The building also has a fascia and cornice, along with a four-panelled house door that includes a fanlight at the right-hand end. Nos 2 to 30 (even) and Nos 34 to 50 (even) form a group with this building.
