Description
Nos 22 and 24 on Cheap Street are a pair of buildings dating from the late 18th century to the early to mid 19th century. They are two-storey structures with a stone front featuring four window bays and a slate gabled roof. The buildings have a stone eaves cornice, and the first floor is adorned with sash windows that have stone architraves.
No 22 features a pedimented doorcase with moulded pilasters and angle roundels, along with flush-panelled reveals and a rectangular fanlight; however, the original door has been replaced by a small shop window. There is also a contemporary bowed 2-light sash window on the ground floor, which has a cornice and pilasters similar to those of the doorway.
No 24 has a 19th-century shop front that has been remodelled, with a house door located at the right-hand end. Steps lead up to a 6-panelled door set in flush-panelled reveals.
These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 30 (even) and Nos 34 to 50 (even).
