Description
The Greyhound Public House, located at 6 Cheap Street, is a building that dates back to 1625. It features a front that has been significantly restored or largely rebuilt, designed in the style of the early 17th century. The two-storey structure has four window bays and a stone front with two small gables. On the right side, there is a first-floor oriel window. The stone mullioned windows include some with dripmoulds. A segmental-headed gateway is located at the left end, while a segmental-headed doorway is found at the right end. The coursed rubble masonry is the only part of the front that is definitely old, although traces of the original structure can be seen at the back. Inside, there is panelling that reflects styles from the late 16th to 17th centuries. The Greyhound Public House is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 30 (even) and Nos 34 to 50 (even).
