Description

No 5 on Cheap Street, formerly known as Purbeck House, dates from around 1625. It is a two-storey building with a painted brick front that appears to be from the 18th century, although the structure is likely older. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with stone slates. The building features sash windows, one of which has been altered, and has keystones above them. There is also a later bay addition. The yard entry includes a flat arch with a keystone and panelled doors. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 15 (odd) and the George Hotel in Higher Cheap Street.
