Description
Nos 13 and 15 on Cheap Street are a building dating from 1625, located on the north-east side. This structure has been significantly altered and features a two-storey front that is cement rendered, concealing an earlier stone-rubble core. The building has four windows, which are modern two-light casements with glazing bars. It has a parapet and a modern tile roof facing Cheap Street, while an older tile roof is found at the rear.
No 13 includes a 19th-century shop window and retains a fine late 18th-century doorcase on the right. This doorcase is adorned with fluted Ionic pilasters and a rectangular fanlight, and the entablature features a reeded frieze and an egg-and-dart moulding on the cornice. No 15 has a modern shop window. There is a stone rubble wing at the rear. No 15 is designated as Grade II only because it is part of the same structure as No 13.
Nos 1 to 15 (odd) are part of a group with the George Hotel located in Higher Cheap Street.
