Description
MacReady House, located at No. 10 Newland, is a building dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is two storeys high with a basement and features a painted brick front. The façade includes two windows and a central blind panel above, with two additional windows and a doorway on the ground floor. The roof is slate with a gabled design and stone coping, complemented by a moulded stone eaves cornice. The windows are sash style, three panes wide, and the round-headed doorway is adorned with a rubbed brick voussoir. Access to the door is via three concrete steps, leading to a six flush-panelled door topped with a semi-circular fanlight that has tracery. MacReady House is part of a group with Nos 8 to 12 (even) and the western range of No 16 (Hunt's Dairies), along with the North wing of Digby Estate Office on Cheap Street.
