Description
Holland Cottages is a building located on the north side of Newland, dating from the early to mid-19th century, although it has an earlier core. The structure is two storeys high with an attic and features three gabled dormers. The roof is made of both stone slates and plain tiles, and the front is colourwashed. It has quoin pilasters and moulded parapet coping. The windows have moulded architraves, with large sash windows above that are missing horizontal glazing bars, and fixed windows below. The painted Ham stone doorway has a scrolled broken pediment supported by enriched brackets, and the opening features a 3-centred head. While the doorway appears to be from the 19th century, it may be a copy of an earlier design. Holland Cottages is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 7 (odd) and Nos 13 to 17 (odd).
