Description

The gateway, located 25 metres south-south-east of the Outer Gatehouse, is likely a re-erection of an earlier structure. It incorporates materials from the 14th century. The gateway features stumps of ashlar side walls made with grey Portesham stone jambs and a segmental arch above. There is a substantial 6-inch straight chamfer and a segmental rere-arch with a lesser chamfer. The gateway is topped with hipped stone roofing.
