Description
A pair of cottages, possibly originally a single house, dating to the late 17th century. They are located on the north side of Hilton Conigar Knap. The walls are of flint and brick, with a roughcast front. The roofs are hipped and thatched, featuring a brick stack in the centre and one near the left end. The cottages are one storey and attic in height. No. 1 has a ledged door within a corrugated iron porch, a single casement window on the ground floor with horizontal glazing bars, and a dormer window in the attic with a similar casement. No. 2 has a ledged door within a timber porch, three casement windows on the ground floor with horizontal glazing bars, and three dormers in the attic with similar casements. A window with lead lights is found in the left gable wall. The property is recorded in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Dorset, Vol.III) as Monument 14.
