Description

This is a detached thatched house, originally three cottages, located in Conigar Knap, Hilton. The central part of the house dates from the 17th century, with extensions likely added in the 18th century. The walls are a mix of flint and brick banding, with brick dressings. The roof is thatched and hipped, featuring two brick stacks, one on each side of the central section.

The house is one storey with an attic. A 20th-century oak door sits within an open timber thatched porch. A buttressed front wall is present. The left section is single-storey and contains three casement windows with glazing bars. The main section of the house has four casement windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, and four dormers with similar casements in the attic. A 20th-century lean-to is located at the rear, with a thatched catslide roof.

Inside, three large open fireplaces remain, two including bread ovens. A number of chamfered ceiling beams are present, along with two jointed-cruck trusses in the central section.
