Description
Warmwell Mill and Mill House is an attached mill and mill house dating from the late 18th century, with a mid-19th century enlargement that doubled its original size when the miller's house was constructed. The building features rubble-stone and dressed stone, along with brick walls that have brick dressings. The roofs are slate, with the house being lower to the north and having both hipped and gabled sections. There are brick stacks at the inner right gable and at the far right gable.
The mill is two storeys high, while the house is also two storeys but lower in height. The east elevation of the mill at ground level includes two leaf plank doors with a cambered brick arch above, three windows with 20th-century metal casements, and two smaller windows with metal and iron casements, all featuring cambered arches. The stone floor has two plank doorways, and there is a weatherboarded and hipped slate roof over the bin floor at the upper right.
Inside the mill, there are remains of the hurst frame and a small oat-crushing machine, along with two wooden belt wheels. The attached miller's house is two storeys tall and has five windows, which are two-light cast iron casements with glazing bars, stone cills, and heavy stone lintels above. The central doorway also features a heavy stone lintel and a four-panel door from the 19th century. At the north end, there is a single-storey outbuilding with a three-light cast iron casement with glazing bars and a small three-light dormer window above, as well as a plank door with a door frame.
