Description
9 West Borough is an early 19th-century building constructed in an early Gothic Revival style. The walls are rendered, and the roof is now tiled, with colourwashed, octagonal brick stacks. It is a double-pile building with a central valley gutter running parallel to the street. The main facade has, on the ground floor, a modern glazed door and two 19th-century shop windows set in timber surrounds with moulded cornices. A string course runs above the door. The first floor has two windows with parapeted gables acting as dormers, each containing side-hung casements with glazing bars, although one is now blocked. The south elevation features a four-panel, part-glazed door within a simple classical surround. There is one modern inserted bay window and one blocked bay window on the ground floor. The first floor has a canted bay window with double-hung sashes and a two-light casement with glazing bars, beneath a hood mould.
