Description
28 and 30 East Street are early to mid 18th century buildings that stand two storeys high with an attic. The façade features three windows, and the ground floor has been altered to create a central passageway. There are single-storey projections from the 19th century on the left and a later one on the right. The buildings are noted for their group value due to the upper two storeys. The mansard roof is covered with slate on the upper part and has tiled ridges, along with two segmental-headed dormers. The eaves cornice is made of dentil red brick. The main front is constructed of red brick with alternating grey headers. The windows are three panes wide, set in segmental arches with rubbed brick voussoirs. The central passageway features panelled house doors. These buildings, along with Nos 28 to 42 (even) and the Dry Cleaners, form a cohesive group.
