Description

The wall enclosing the garden to The Old House on the east and south sides is possibly from the 17th century, although it has undergone later repairs and additions. The south side of the wall is very high, reaching about 20 feet, and features a stepped gable made of brick in the center. This side is primarily constructed of red brick, with some areas of flint and brick rubble, and includes brick pilasters. Beneath the gable, there is a doorway at the base of the wall that leads to a cave, which is now used as a gardener's shed. The east side of the wall is of a later date and is made of flint, with a brick lacing course and vertical strips of red brick at intervals.
