Description

Prospect Place is a detached farmhouse dating from the mid-19th century, situated in Cattistock Sandhills. The house is constructed of broadmayne brick walls in Flemish bond, with red brick gauged voussoirs and a dogtooth brick cornice. The side walls are of rubble stone. The roof is slate, with gable ends, and brick stacks are located at each gable. The front elevation features three windows with sash glazing-bars (16 panes) and stone cills. The central front doorway is topped by a semi-circular brick arch with ribbed brickwork, leading to a six-panelled door (two flush panels and four ribbed panels), above which is a segmental fanlight without glazing-bars. Attached front garden walls are built of flint rubble, with iron railings featuring spur-finials and urns at the intersections. An iron gate is set within brick piers that incorporate stone cornices and pineapple finials.
