Description
Deverel Farm House is a detached farmhouse built in the early to mid 19th century. It features brick walls with burnt headers and a low-pitched slate roof adorned with moulded bargeboards. The brick stacks have moulded caps and are positioned irregularly. The house has two storeys, with the main elevation showcasing a central recessed section flanked by slightly projecting gabled wings and a projecting wing at the left end.
In the central section, there is a panelled door with a semi-circular fanlight, flanked by round-headed windows, all sheltered by a tiled pentice. Above this, on the first floor, is a sash window with a central glazing bar and a moulded surround, resting on moulded brackets. Each gabled wing features one similar window on each floor. The left-hand projecting range also includes one sash window with a central glazing bar on each floor, set under a gauged brick arch.
At the rear, there is a projecting wing constructed in matching materials, along with a single-storey lean-to. The property is complemented by a brick garden wall and a small brick and tile outbuilding. This well-preserved Victorian house appears on the Tithe Map from around 1840.
